Welcome to Quoteablackgirl!

My freshman year of high school, during finals. I’m standing in front of a class of over fifty people, a group bigger than I have ever presented in front of before, presenting my project. At first, everything is going well. Out of nowhere, my anxiety begins to creep up on me and I blank out and forget my entire project. I spend a good two minutes staring at the class with wide eyes before the teacher reads my script to remind me of where I left off.

Hi, I’m Kamaria! Welcome to my blog and all the adventures it will bring! I’m a freshman in college from Ohio, and I plan on studying journalism and traveling around the world. Aside from writing, I love to sing, read, and bake. I’m also really into crafts and building things.

I decided to create a blog because I have a deep passion for writing, though I keep it concealed, and I wanted to share my writing with others. I find that writing helps keep my imagination alive and I find it calming. I hope through reading my blog you will find inspiration, laughter, and joy all around.

I tend to be a shy person but through blogging I want to be able to come out of my shell and learn to open up more, as I tend to be more of myself when I am writing. Aside from that, my goal with this blog is to share my internal thoughts and my experiences, to improve my writing skill, and hopefully meet new friends along the way. I usually keep my writings to myself and I am excited to go on the journey that this blog will take me on.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog, I hope you enjoyed this little piece about me! I plan to update my blog frequently, at the minimum once a week. I encourage any and all comments, and for this week’s blog, I would love to hear about an embarrassing moment you had! Till next time!

Awesome Hair Products for Natural Hair

Having natural hair can be a struggle when searching for products that will keep your hair moisturized and get rid of frizz, but still look fluffy and soft. It becomes even harder when you have hair that has previously been chemically treated (I’ve dyed my hair three times). The products that you do find are usually overpriced or run out quickly. In this post, I’m going to share some of my favorite natural hair products that I like to use.

Cantu Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream

Cantu is one of my favorite hair product companies that I have been using for a while. The thing I love most about this product is that it has no sulfates, which can heavily damage dyed hair. It also has a really fruity scent, which I love. I mainly use it after I wash my hair (wash and go) along with some type of oil to keep the moisture sealed in longer. You can pretty much find the moisturizer in most stores that sell hair products, and it usually ranges from $6-$8 depending on where you go. Personally, my hair does not soak up a lot of moisturizer, so one container can last me about a month and a half or two depending on the styles I do.16970519

Spa Haus Tea Tree Mint Conditioner

This is a conditioner that I just started using about a month or two ago. I absolutely love the smell and the cool feeling it gives my scalp when I use it. Looking online, it lists the conditioner for around $8. I found it at a Big Lots near me for $1 so, once again, it’s about where you shop. Another thing that I am excited about is that there is quite a bit of product, and because I wash my hair once every week or week and a half, it will probably last me a long while. While I have yet to try the pairing shampoo, it is on my list of hair products to try this month.245100

Creme of Nature Moisture & Shine Shampoo

Creme of Nature is also an amazing company and one I have been rocking with for a while. The products that I have used from them so far have been sulfate free, which I love. One thing I was really excited about for this shampoo is that it includes argan oil. Argan oil makes my hair soft and shiny, and I use it whenever I apply heat to my hair especially, because it keeps it from drying out. This shampoo keeps my hair smelling good and clean. I only comb my hair in the shower and this really helps the detangling process too. This shampoo can be purchased for around $8.

Eco Styler Black Castor & Flax Seed Oil Styling Gel

This is a product that I was scared to try, only because there was a lot of hype around it and I wasn’t sure if it actually worked or not, so I decided to try it. My hair also has an issue with gel, and flakes every time I use it. I can honestly say that this is my most favorite Eco Styler product thus far and I can’t go a day without it. When I first bought it, I immediately fell in love with the way it looked. It’s like a sparkly yellow-greenish color and the smell is amazing. I use this gel in every wash and go, whether I just need to slick down my edges or if I want to us it as a moisturizer along with my Cantu Curl Activator Cream. I usually buy the larger container from a store in Columbus called Miss Melanin for around $10-$15. The one downfall of the Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil Gel is that it can sometimes be hard to find. I frequently shop at Meijer, Walmart, and Big Lots and have yet to find it in any of these stores, but it is in most hair stores that I go to.

Aussie Mega Moist Conditioner

I found this conditioner on YouTube after watching a couple of YouTubers do natural hairstyles using it. Though I don’t use it as much anymore, Aussie Mega Moist Conditioner is a great product to use in your hair after a wash and go. It smells really sweet and has a super light consistency. The thing that drew it to me the most is how affordable it is. Amazon actually has a six pack for around $20, which is where I bought it from when I first started using it. It can also be found in pretty much any stores that sell hair products.

Creme of Nature Apple Cider Vinegar Clarifying Rinse

I actually found the Creme of Nature Apple Cider Vinegar Clarifying Rinse by accident. I went to a hair store looking for my Creme of Nature shampoo and not paying attention I accidentally bought this instead. I was too lazy to take it back so I ended up deciding to just try it, as I heard that apple cider vinegar is good for your hair. The first thing I noticed when I used this product was the smell. Apple cider vinegar has a very distinct smell, which is why I never used it in my hair. This rinse actually smells great and I love how soft my hair feels and how easy it becomes to comb. I only use this rinse before shampooing and I refuse to give it up in my hair routine. I bought this for around $8 at the hair store but have not really seen it anywhere else. I also love that it is infused with Argan oil.

Creme of Nature

Eco Natural Cocktail Curl & Style Créme

This is another product that I don’t use as often as I used to, but still love it nonetheless. The consistency of it is sort of thick and it is really moisturizing for thick hair in my opinion. I usually find this product in hair stores for around $10 for the larger container. When I use this product in my hair, I noticed after a few hours or so that my hair feels a little hard, kind of like how your hair would feel after you put mousse in your hair. I personally like when it feels like that because I feel like my hair stays in place better and gets less frizzy that way.

The Mane Choice Multi-Vitamin Scalp Nourishing Growth Oil

I love this oil so much. I went to the store to buy the Manetabolism Vitamins and decided to get the oil too. I swapped the my Jamaican Black Castor Oil in my wash routine for the the Mane Choice Growth Oil and I am amazed at how well it has worked in my hair. As I said earlier, I do not wash my hair often, so this oil is not used quickly. I don’t use much of it either, just on the scalp, so that it’s not being wasted. The oil is quite expensive for what you get, but I love it so much that it made the list anyway. It is around $12 for 4 fluid oz of product. Honestly, I use it quite inconsistently but I’ve seen a lot of growth in my hair, especially in my edges. It also leaves a really good smell in my hair.

Mane Choice Oil

This is just a short list of many products that I have tried and liked to use in my hair. Do you guys have any products that you use that you want to mention? Leave a comment or just message  me and let me know! Until next time!
